India Tour
February 2001
At the invitation of the British Council's office in Mumbai, the Amadeus Ensemble visited India in 2001. The ensemble gave several concerts, including two at the Tata Theatre in the impressive complex of the National Centre for the Performing Arts, and one at the tranquil Scottish Kirk.
These performances, given to packed houses, were staged in collaboration with the Indian acting and directing talents of Mahesh Mahbubani's Naach Theatre group.
Besides these concerts, Philip Mackenzie gave a series of lectures on the history of western classical music at the British Council's offices, and the entire ensemble gave enthusiastically-received workshops for local school children, at Bombay International High School and at Cathedral & John Connon Senior School.
